Questions

Be comes before the subject in questions.

For closed questions (yes and no answers):

BE	Subject	Action/Gerund		Yes/No	Subject	BE
Am	I	winning?	⇒	Yes,	you	are.
Are	you	teaching?	⇒	Yes,	I	am.
Is	he	swimming?	⇒	Yes,	he	is.
Is	she	driving?	⇒	No,	she	isn't.
Is	it	working?	⇒	Yes,	it	is.
Are	we	losing?	⇒	Yes,	we	are.
Are	they	sleeping?	⇒	No,	they	aren't.

For open questions (many possible answers) we use a question word:

Question	BE	Subject	Action/Gerund
Why	am	I	losing?
Where	are	you	going?
What	is	he	doing?
What	is	she	cooking?
What	is	it	doing?
What	are	we	making?
Where	are	they	working?
