The Present Continuous Tense vs The Present Simple Tense


Usage - The Present Continuous

We use the present continuous tense for temporary actions happening now or around now.

We also use the present continuous tense for future arrangements.

  • I am playing football right now.
  • Temporary Actions
  • I am working at home this week.
  • Future Arrangements
  • I am meeting her tomorrow.

We use the present simple tense for usual or repeated actions, facts, future schedules and stative verbs.
