  • Reporting what someone said

Grammar - Reported Speech: will

When we report what someone has already said about the future with will, we use would.

  • DIRECT SPEECH REPORTED SPEECH
  • will would

Examples - willwould

  • "I'll come tomorrow."
  • She said she would come tomorrow.
  • "I'll do it later."
  • He said he would do it later.

Grammar - Reported Speech: be going to

When we report what someone has already said about the future with be going to, we use was/were going to.

  • DIRECT SPEECH REPORTED SPEECH
  • am/are/is was/were

Examples - am/are/iswas/were

  • "I'm going to work."
  • She said she was going to work.
  • "They're going to visit."
  • He said they were going to visit.
