Usage - The Present Perfect Tense

We use the present perfect tense for discussing how long or time durations. The activity has started but it hasn't finished.

  • How long?
  • Starting in the past and continuing now

Grammar - The Present Perfect Tense

We use for with time durations.

We use since with start times.

  • for + NUMBER + TIME PERIOD
  • I've lived here for 3 years.
  • They've been there for 2 months.
  • since + TIME IN THE PAST
  • He's worked here since last January.
  • It's been open since 2010.
