Adverbs modify verbs.

Grammar - Adverbs of Manner

Adverbs of manner usually come after a verb or at the end of a sentence.

We can form many adverbs by adding -ly to an adjective.

  • SUBJECT + VERB + ADVERB OF MANNER
  • ADVERB = ADJECTIVE-ly
  • quickquickly
  • He was quick.
  • He ran quickly.
  • ADJECTIVE ending in "-y":
  • ADJECTIVE ADJECTIVE (- y) + -ily
  • happy happily
