Adverbs of Degree: very/really/too/quite


Usage - Adverbs of Degree

Very, really, quite and too go before an adverb or an adjective.

Very and really make an adverb or adjective stronger (+++).

Quite makes an adverb or adjective weaker (+).

Too makes an activity impossible or the adverb or adjective undesirable.

  • very/really: Stronger ADJECTIVE/ADVERB
  • My computer is very good.
  • quite: Weaker ADJECTIVE/ADVERB
  • I ran quite quickly.
  • too: Undesirable ADJECTIVE/ADVERB
  • The soup is too salty.
  • too: Impossible Activity
  • She arrived too late to catch the plane.
