El uso - El Pretérito Continuo

Usamos el presente continuo para una acción que ocurre al mismo tiempo que otra acción en el pasado.

Usamos una cláusula en pasado simple para la acción más corta.

Usamos una cláusula en pasado continuo para la acción más larga.

Gramática - El Pretérito Continuo

PAST CON. CLAUSE + when + PAST SIMPLE
The Past Continuous: BE + INF.-ing
BE → was/were
I/He/She/It + was + INF.-ing
I was sleeping when you called.
You/We/They + were + INF.-ing
They were fishing when they saw it.
