Função - O Past Continuous

Usamos o presente contínuo para uma ação acontecendo ao mesmo tempo que outra ação no passado.

Usamos uma cláusula no passado simples para a ação mais curta.

Usamos uma cláusula no passado contínuo para a ação mais longa.

Gramática - O Past Continuous

PAST CON. CLAUSE + when + PAST SIMPLE
The Past Continuous: BE + INF.-ing
BE → was/were
I/He/She/It + was + INF.-ing
I was sleeping when you called.
You/We/They + were + INF.-ing
They were fishing when they saw it.

Exemplos - O Past Continuous

I	was	sleeping	when	he called.
You	were	reading	when	she came.
He	was	working	when	it arrived.
She	was	studying	when	I visited.
It	was	working	when	I bought it.
We	were	fishing	when	we saw it.
