Il uso - Congiunzioni: when/while

Possiamo usare when con la proposizione al passato semplice o per la proposizione al passato continuo.

Possiamo usare while solo con la proposizione al passato continuo.

  • when + PAST SIMP./PAST CON.
  • When she arrived, I was working.
  • She arrived when I was working.
  • while + PAST CON.
  • She arrived while I was working.

PAST CONTINUOUSwhilePAST CON.
I was listening to musicwhileI was jogging.
I was breathingwhileI was singing.

Il uso - Congiunzioni: so/because/until

Usiamo so per il risultato. Usiamo because per la ragione.

Usiamo until per il periodo di tempo prima che qualcosa finisca.

  • REASON + so + RESULT
  • I was tired so I went to bed.
  • RESULT + because + REASON
  • I ate some food because I was hungry.
  • ... until IT ENDS
  • I slept until my alarm woke me up.
