Usamos a com substantivos singulares que começam com um som consoante (b-/c-/d-/f-/g-/...), e an com substantivos singulares que começam com um som vogal (a-/e-/i-/o-/u-).

Gramática - Determinantes: some/any

Para substantivos plurais e substantivos incontáveis, usamos any para perguntas e declarações negativas, e usamos some para declarações positivas.

any/some + UNCOUNTABLE NOUN
any/some + SUBSTANTIVO INCONTÁVEL
Is there any milk in the fridge?
No, there isn't any milk.
