The Passive Voice: Present Simple Tense


Il uso - La Voce Passiva

Spesso seguiamo un ordine di parole soggetto-verbo-oggetto (SVO). Questa è la voce attiva.

Quando invertiamo l'ordine (SVO → OVS), diventa la voce passiva.

Nella voce passiva, usiamo il verbo be e il participio passato (V3).

  • The focus is on the OBJECT.
  • We might not have a SUBJECT.
  • We might not state the SUBJECT.
  • We reverse the sentence order.

Grammatica - La Voce Attiva

  • SUBJECT + VERB + OBJECT (SVO)
  • Pandas eat bamboo.

Grammatica - La Voce Passiva

  • SVO → OBJECT VERB by SUBJECT (OVS)
  • SUBJECT + BE + V3 + by + OBJECT
  • Bamboo is eaten by pandas.
  • SUBJECT PRONOUN → OBJECT PRONOUN
  • OBJECT PRONOUN → SUBJECT PRONOUN
  • SUBJ. PRON. + BE + V3 + by + OBJ. PRON.
  • She checks them.
  • They are checked by her.
  • SUBJECT + BE + V3 + PREPOSITION ...
  • Cars are made in factories.

Esempi - Voce Attiva → Voce Passiva (SVO → OVS)

Esempi - PRONOMBRE COMPLEMENTO → PRONOMBRE SOGGETTO (SVO → OVS)

Un pronome oggetto nella voce attiva diventa un pronome soggetto nella voce passiva.

SUBJ. PRON.BE + V3by OBJ. (passive)

Esempi - PRONOMBRE SOGGETTO → PRONOMBRE COMPLEMENTO (SVO → OVS)

Un pronome soggetto nella voce attiva diventa un pronome oggetto nella voce passiva.

Heinspiresmany people.
SUBJ. (passive)BE + V3by OBJ. PRON.
Many peopleare inspiredby him.

⚠ Attenzione!

Nella voce passiva non sempre includiamo l'oggetto (passiva).

  • Sometimes there isn't an object in the passive.
  • Corn is grown on farms. ✔
