Grammaire - Articles: a/an

Nous utilisons a ou an avec les noms singuliers.

Nous utilisons a avec les noms singuliers qui commencent par un son consonne (b-/c-/d-/f-/g-/...).

Nous utilisons an avec les noms singuliers qui commencent par un son voyelle (a-/e-/i-/o-/u-).

  • a/an + SINGULAR (1) NOUN
  • a/an + NOM SINGULIER
  • a + CONSONANT (b-/c-/d-/f-/g-/...)
  • a + CONSONNE (b-/c-/d-/f-/g/...)
  • a bag
  • an + VOWEL (a-/e-/i-/o-/u-)
  • an + VOYELLE (a-/e-/i-/o-/u-)
  • an apple

  • CONSONANT LETTER with VOWEL SOUND:
  • CONSONNE LETTRE & VOYELLE PRONONCIATION:

  • LETTER U with "yu" SOUND:
  • LETTRE U & "yu" PRONONCIATION:
  • a university ("yu-ni-ver-si-tee")

Grammaire - Pluriel

Nous ajoutons généralement -s à la fin des noms pluriels.

Pour les noms qui se terminent par consonne-y, nous remplaçons -y par -ies.

Pour les noms qui se terminent par -ss, -sh, -ch, -o ou -x, nous ajoutons -es.

  • PLURAL (2/3/4/...) NOUNS:
  • PLURIEL (2/3/4/...) NOMS:
  • NOUN → NOUN-s
  • cat → cats
  • NOUN ending in CONSONANT-y:
  • NOM SE TERMINANT PAR CONSONNE-y
  • NOUN → NOUN (- y) + -ies
  • diary → diaries
  • NOUN ending in -ss/-sh/-ch/-o/-x:
  • NOM SE TERMINANT PAR -ss/-sh/-ch/-o/-x:
  • NOUN → NOUN-es
  • glass → glasses

Exemples - Pluriel: -s

Formes - Pluriel: -es
