Gramática - Artículos: a/an

Usamos a o an con sustantivos singulares.

Usamos a con sustantivos singulares que comienzan con un sonido consonante (b-/c-/d-/f-/g-/...).

Usamos an con sustantivos singulares que comienzan con un sonido vocal (a-/e-/i-/o-/u-).

  • a/an + SINGULAR (1) NOUN
  • a/an + NOMBRE SINGULAR
  • a + CONSONANT (b-/c-/d-/f-/g-/...)
  • a + CONSONANTE (b-/c-/d-/f-/g/...)
  • a bag
  • an + VOWEL (a-/e-/i-/o-/u-)
  • an + VOCAL (a-/e-/i-/o-/u-)
  • an apple

  • CONSONANT LETTER with VOWEL SOUND:
  • CONSONANTE LETRA & VOCAL PRONUNCIACIÓN:
  • an MP3 ("em-pee-3")
  • an hour ("ow-er")
  • LETTER U with "yu" SOUND:
  • LETRA U & "yu" PRONUNCIACIÓN:
  • a university ("yu-ni-ver-si-tee")
  • a U-turn ("yu-turn")

Gramática - Plurales

Generalmente agregamos -s al final de los sustantivos plurales.

Para los sustantivos que terminan en consonante-y, reemplazamos -y por -ies.

Para los sustantivos que terminan en -ss, -sh, -ch, -o o -x, agregamos -es.

  • PLURAL (2/3/4/...) NOUNS:
  • PLURAL (2/3/4/...) NOMBRES:
  • NOUN → NOUN-s
  • cat → cats
  • NOUN ending in CONSONANT-y:
  • NOMBRE QUE TERMINAN EN CONSONANTE-y
  • NOUN → NOUN (- y) + -ies
  • diary → diaries
  • NOUN ending in -ss/-sh/-ch/-o/-x:
  • NOMBRE QUE TERMINAN EN -ss/-sh/-ch/-o/-x:
  • NOUN → NOUN-es
  • glass → glasses
